Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 small, finely chopped onion
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp, finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tbsp, finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground paprika
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp ground turmeric
  • 0.25 tsp (optional) red chili flakes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp, for cooking olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, and cilantro.

Step 2

Add the cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, turmeric, chili flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until fully incorporated.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 2 cm (0.75 inches) thick.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 5

Cook the patties in the skillet in batches, to avoid overcrowding, for about 4-5 minutes per side or until browned on the outside and cooked through in the middle.

Step 6

Remove cooked patties from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Step 7

Serve hot, with flatbread, a fresh salad, or a dollop of yogurt sauce for a complete meal.
