Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons black tea leaves (or 4 tea bags)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 piece cinnamon stick
  • 4 pieces whole cloves
  • 3 pieces green cardamom pods (slightly crushed)
  • 1 inch fresh ginger (thinly sliced)
  • 1 piece lemon (sliced, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Once the water is boiling, add the cinnamon stick, whole cloves, cardamom pods, and sliced fresh ginger. Reduce the heat to medium and let the spices simmer for 5 minutes to release their flavors.

Step 3

Add the black tea leaves (or tea bags) to the saucepan and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes. If you prefer stronger tea, you can steep it for up to 5 minutes.

Step 4

Turn off the heat and strain the tea into a teapot or heatproof pitcher to remove the spices and tea leaves (or remove the tea bags).

Step 5

Stir in the honey until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust the sweetness as needed.

Step 6

Pour the spiced honey tea into cups and serve hot. Optionally, garnish with a slice of lemon for a citrusy twist.

Step 7

Enjoy the warm, aromatic flavors of your homemade Spiced Honey Tea!
