  • 1 cup Milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 stick Cinnamon stick
  • 4 pods (slightly crushed) Cardamom pods
  • 3 whole Cloves
  • 1 whole Star anise
  • 1 inch piece (sliced) Ginger
  • 5 whole Black peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoons (to taste) Sugar or sweetener of choice

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil over medium heat.

Add 0.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract (if using) for an extra layer of flavor.

Step 7

Strain the chai tea through a fine mesh sieve into a teapot or directly into serving cups to remove the spices and tea leaves.
