Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef chuck
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 0.5 teaspoons turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 100 milliliters water
  • 10 leaves curry leaves
  • 2 small green chilies
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves

Directions

Step 1

Begin by trimming the beef chuck of excess fat and cutting it into bite-sized pieces.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef pieces with ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, salt, and garam masala.

Step 3

Mix the ingredients well to ensure the beef is well-coated with the spices. Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.

Step 4

While the beef is marinating, slice the large onion and chop the green chilies.

Step 5

In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat.

Step 6

Add the curry leaves and chopped green chilies to the hot oil, sauté until the chilies are slightly blistered.

Step 7

Add the sliced onion to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Step 8

Add the marinated beef to the pan, stirring well to mix with the onions and spices.

Step 9

Pour 100 milliliters of water into the pan, cover with a lid, and let it cook on medium heat for about 25 minutes, or until the beef is tender. Stir occasionally.

Step 10

Once the beef is cooked through, remove the lid and increase the heat slightly to allow excess moisture to evaporate, giving the beef a nice fry.

Step 11

Drizzle the lemon juice over the fried beef and mix well.

Step 12

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

Step 13

Serve the beef fry hot with rice, roti, or naan.
