Ingredients

  • 1 can Spam
  • 1 Yellow onion
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vegetable oil
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 4 Bread slices
  • 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Slice the Spam into 1/4-inch thick slices. Set aside.

Step 2

Peel and thinly slice the yellow onion into rings or half-moons.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the sliced onion to the skillet, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and let it melt over medium heat.

Add the Spam slices to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are browned and crispy. Remove from heat.

Toast the bread slices in a toaster or skillet until golden brown.
