Ingredients

  • 250 grams spaghetti
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 60 grams Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 120 milliliters pasta cooking water

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to boil and add 1 teaspoon of salt.

Step 2

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes).

Step 3

While the pasta is cooking, prepare the butter and Parmesan by measuring out the required quantities.

Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve about 120 milliliters (1/2 cup) of the pasta cooking water and then drain the spaghetti.

Return the drained spaghetti to the pot while it is still hot.

Add the unsalted butter to the spaghetti and toss until the butter has melted and evenly coated the pasta.

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta and slowly add the reserved pasta water, a little at a time, tossing the spaghetti until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes creamy. You may not need all of the pasta water.
