Ingredients

  • 400 grams spaghetti
  • 200 grams bacon
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 50 grams parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set the spaghetti aside.

Step 2

While the spaghetti cooks, dice the bacon into small pieces. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until it is crispy. Remove the cooked bacon with a slotted spoon and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the butter. Once melted, add the breadcrumbs and toast them over medium heat until golden and fragrant, stirring frequently, about 3-4 minutes. Transfer the breadcrumbs to a small bowl and set aside.

Step 4

Peel and mince the garlic cloves. In the same skillet, heat the remaining 3 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant and lightly golden. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 5

Return the spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic oil. Toss to coat the pasta evenly, adding a splash of reserved pasta water if necessary to loosen the mixture.

Step 6

Season the spaghetti with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in the crispy bacon pieces, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the pasta.

Step 7

Transfer the spaghetti to a serving bowl or individual plates. Sprinkle the toasted breadcrumbs evenly over the top.

Step 8

Grate parmesan cheese over the dish and garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy!
