Ingredients

  • 400 g spaghetti
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 400 g crushed tomatoes
  • 250 ml beef broth
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 50 g grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet or deep pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened and translucent.

Step 4

Stir in the minced garlic and diced red bell pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring frequently.

Step 5

Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

Step 6

Stir in the tomato paste, smoked paprika, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes to allow the spices to bloom.

Step 7

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Stir well to combine.

Step 8

Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let the goulash simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 9

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Step 10

Toss the cooked spaghetti with the goulash sauce, ensuring the pasta is evenly coated.

Step 11

Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
