Ingredients

  • 400 grams spaghetti
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 400 grams crushed tomatoes
  • 100 milliliters heavy cream
  • 60 grams Parmesan cheese
  • 10 leaves fresh basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoons chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 4 liters water

Directions

Step 1

Fill a large pot with 4 liters of water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water.

Step 2

Once boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 3

While the spaghetti cooks, finely chop the garlic and dice the red onion.

Step 4

In a large skillet, heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and onion, cooking for 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.

Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet and stir to combine. Simmer the sauce for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
