Ingredients

  • 4 pieces (8-10 oz each) rib eye steaks
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste) salt
  • 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste) black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Remove the rib eye steaks from the refrigerator and allow them to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, lime juice, and sesame oil to prepare the glaze.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and water to create a slurry, then set aside.

Step 4

Transfer the glaze mixture to a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Once it's simmering, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the glaze thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 5

Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the rib eye steaks on both sides with vegetable oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper.

Step 6

Grill the steaks for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your preferred doneness. Brush the thickened soy pineapple glaze onto the steaks during the last 2 minutes of cooking on each side, allowing the glaze to caramelize slightly.

Step 7

Remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5-7 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Step 8

Garnish the rib eye steaks with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
