Ingredients

  • 6 pieces Chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 2 stalks Green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel and trim any excess fat. Set them aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. This will be your glaze mixture.

Step 3

In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Set aside.

Step 4

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs, skin-side down, and sear for 5-6 minutes or until the skin is golden and crispy. Flip the thighs and cook for another 4-5 minutes.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium. Remove any excess oil from the skillet, keeping about 1 tablespoon in the pan.

Step 6

Pour the soy glaze mixture over the chicken thighs. Simmer the chicken in the glaze for 10-12 minutes, occasionally spooning the glaze over the thighs for even coating.

Step 7

Stir the cornstarch slurry into the skillet and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the glaze thickens and coats the chicken thoroughly.

Step 8

Remove the chicken from the skillet and transfer to a serving platter. Spoon any remaining glaze over the top.

Step 9

Garnish the soy glazed chicken thighs with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if using. Serve immediately with steamed rice or your favorite side dish.
