Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1 large puff pastry sheet
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 large garlic cloves
  • 50 grams breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Dice the onion and mince the garlic cloves finely.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed onion and garlic, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, salt, black pepper, dried oregano, and chopped fresh parsley. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Step 5

Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Spoon the meat mixture onto the center of the pastry, shaping it into a log about 4 inches wide.

Step 6

Carefully roll the puff pastry around the meat mixture, ensuring that the seam is on the bottom. Tuck the ends under to seal them.

Step 7

Transfer the meat roll onto the prepared baking sheet.

Step 8

Brush the top and sides of the pastry with milk to give it a golden finish.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm as a main dish or cut into slices for appetizers.
