Ingredients

  • 12 oz Rotini pasta
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped

  • 28 oz Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Dried basil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp Red chili flakes
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 0.25 cup Fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 8 cups Water
  • 1 tbsp Salt for pasta water

Directions

Step 1

Bring 8 cups of water to a boil in a large pot and add 1 tablespoon salt.

Step 2

Add the rotini pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente.

Step 3

While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes until translucent.
