Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin or ribeye
  • 80 ml coconut aminos
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 4 units garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 units green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon rice flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 12 units lettuce leaves, for serving

Directions

Step 1

Place the beef in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes to make it easier to slice thinly.

Step 2

While the beef is chilling, prepare the marinade. In a large bowl, combine the coconut aminos, honey, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and black pepper.

Step 3

Once the beef is firm, remove it from the freezer and slice it as thinly as possible against the grain.

Step 4

Add the sliced beef to the bowl with the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight for deeper flavor.

Step 5

Before cooking, take the marinated beef out of the refrigerator and bring it to room temperature. Sprinkle the rice flour over the beef slices and mix gently to coat.

Step 6

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 7

Add the beef slices in a single layer, cooking them in batches if necessary. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until nicely browned and cooked through.

Step 8

Once cooked, remove the beef from the pan and place it on a serving plate.

Step 9

Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Step 10

Serve the bulgogi wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves accompanied by steamed rice or side dishes of your choice.
