Ingredients

  • 1 pound Beef sirloin
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 4 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 0.5 cup Cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 medium Red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium Tomato, sliced
  • 4 large Lettuce leaves
  • 4 pieces Pita bread

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and ground black pepper to create a marinade.

Step 2

Thinly slice the beef sirloin into strips and coat them thoroughly with the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes in the refrigerator.

Step 3

While the beef is marinating, prepare the tzatziki sauce. In a small bowl, mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, fresh dill, a pinch of salt, and paprika. Stir well and refrigerate until needed.

Step 4

Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Add the marinated beef strips to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the beef is browned and cooked through.

Step 6

Warm the pita bread by lightly toasting on a skillet or wrapping them in foil and placing in a low-temperature oven for a few minutes.

Step 7

Assemble the gyros: Place a lettuce leaf on each pita, add cooked beef, a few slices of red onion, and tomato.

Step 8

Drizzle the homemade tzatziki sauce over the top.

Step 9

Fold the pita over the filling and serve immediately.
