Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 cups Cornflour
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 Avocado
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice
  • 1 cup Chopped lettuce
  • 0.5 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup Diced tomatoes

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until brown, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks, about 7-8 minutes.

Step 3

Drain any excess fat from the skillet. Add the mixed spices to the beef and stir well to coat.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, mix cornflour with water until smooth to create a dough. Divide into 4 equal portions.

Step 5

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Flatten a dough portion into a circle, and fry each side for about 3 minutes until crispy and golden brown. Repeat with remaining dough, adding more oil as needed.

Step 6

For the avocado sauce, mash the avocado in a small bowl. Add sour cream and lime juice. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Step 7

To assemble the chalupas, spread a layer of avocado sauce onto each shell.

Step 8

Top with seasoned beef, followed by lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes.

Step 9

Serve immediately, while the shells are crisp and warm.
