Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef ribeye
  • 1 medium Pear
  • 3 large Garlic cloves
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 small Onion
  • 80 ml Coconut aminos
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 stalks Spring onions
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

1. Begin by thinly slicing the beef ribeye against the grain. For best results, freeze the beef for about 30 minutes prior to slicing to make it easier to cut thinly.

Step 2

2. Peel and core the pear, and then grate it using a fine grater. Set aside.

Step 3

3. Finely mince the garlic and ginger, and chop the onion into fine pieces. Chop the spring onions into thin rounds and set aside for garnish.

Step 4

4. In a large mixing bowl, combine grated pear, minced garlic, minced ginger, chopped onion, coconut aminos, honey, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and black pepper. Mix until well blended to form the marinade.

Step 5

5. Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring every piece is well coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for deeper flavor.

Step 6

6. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated beef in batches to avoid overcrowding, searing each side quickly until the beef is cooked through and caramelized, about 1-2 minutes per side.

Step 7

7. Once cooked, transfer the beef to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds.

Step 8

8. Serve hot with steamed rice and your choice of banchan (Korean side dishes). Enjoy your soy-free bulgogi beef!
