Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin
  • 2 tablespoons black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 inch piece, minced ginger
  • 3 cloves, minced garlic
  • 1 medium, sliced red bell pepper
  • 1 medium, sliced green bell pepper
  • 1 medium, sliced onion
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 100 ml water

Directions

Step 1

Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 2

In a bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of black pepper. Add sliced beef to the bowl and toss to coat evenly.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips in batches, searing them until browned on all sides. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.

Step 4

In the same pan, add 2 tablespoons of sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the sliced red and green bell peppers and onion to the pan and stir-fry them for approximately 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix the remaining tablespoon of cornstarch with 100 ml of water until smooth. Add fish sauce, rice vinegar, and honey to this mixture.

Step 7

Pour the sauce into the pan with the vegetables and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.

Step 8

Return the beef to the pan, mixing well to coat with the sauce. Cook for 2-3 more minutes until the beef is fully heated and coated.

Step 9

Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with additional black pepper if desired.
