Ingredients

  • 400 g Beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 block Beancurd (tofu-free), cut into cubes
  • 200 g Button mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, minced
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil
  • 3 tbsp Oyster sauce (soy-free)
  • 2 tbsp Fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 60 ml Water
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 sticks Green onions, sliced for garnish

Directions

Step 1

Begin by preparing a marinade for the beef. In a bowl, combine 1 tbsp of oyster sauce, 1 tbsp of fish sauce, and a pinch of black pepper. Add the sliced beef and mix well to coat. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.

Step 2

While the beef is marinating, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tbsp of oyster sauce, 1 tbsp of fish sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.

Step 3

Heat 2 tbsp of olive oil in a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beancurd cubes and fry until they are golden brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the beancurd from the pan and set aside.

Step 4

In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil. Add the minced garlic, sliced onion, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.

Step 5

Add the marinated beef to the pan and stir-fry until it starts to brown, about 4-5 minutes.

Step 6

Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and continue to stir-fry for another 3 minutes, allowing the mushrooms to soften and release their juices.

Step 7

Return the fried beancurd to the pan, mixing it gently with the beef and mushroom mixture.

Step 8

Pour the prepared sauce over the beef mixture and stir to combine. Allow the sauce to thicken and coat the ingredients evenly, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 9

Season with additional salt and pepper if desired. Once the sauce has thickened to your liking, remove the pan from heat.

Step 10

Garnish the dish with sliced green onions before serving.
