Ingredients

  • 1 pound Beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 0.5 cup Coconut milk
  • 0.25 cup Coconut aminos
  • 2 tablespoons Lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground turmeric
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 8 pieces Wooden skewers

Directions

Step 1

Begin by soaking the wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from burning during cooking.

Step 2

Slice the beef into thin strips, approximately 1/4-inch thick and 3 inches long. Place the sliced beef in a shallow dish.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, combine coconut milk, coconut aminos, lime juice, honey, ground coriander, ground cumin, ground turmeric, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined to make the marinade.

Step 4

Pour the marinade over the beef strips, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover the dish and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for more intense flavor.

Step 5

When ready to cook, preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates using vegetable oil.

Step 6

Thread the marinated beef strips onto the soaked skewers, weaving the skewer in and out of the meat lengthwise.

Step 7

Place the skewers on the grill. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the beef is cooked through and has a nice char.

Step 8

Remove from the grill and let the beef rest for a few minutes before serving.

Step 9

Serve the beef satay with your choice of dipping sauce or a side of fresh veggies.
