Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Tilapia fillets
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 0.5 cups Diced tomatoes
  • 0.25 cups Diced red onion
  • 1 piece Jalapeño, finely chopped
  • 4 pieces Corn tortillas (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the tilapia fillets dry with a paper towel and set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, ground cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3

Rub the spice mixture evenly onto both sides of each tilapia fillet.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Once the oil is hot, add the tilapia fillets to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

Step 6

While the fish is cooking, prepare the salsa by combining the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, lime juice, and chopped cilantro in a bowl. Mix well.

Step 7

Taste the salsa and adjust seasoning with additional lime juice or a pinch of salt if needed.

Step 8

Once the tilapia is cooked, remove it from the heat. Serve hot with the fresh lime-cilantro salsa spooned on top.

Step 9

If desired, serve with warm corn tortillas to make fish tacos or alongside steamed rice and a green salad for a complete meal.
