Ingredients

  • 4 cloves Garlic cloves (minced)
  • 200 g Greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tsp Dried oregano
  • 2 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Ground coriander
  • 1 tsp Ground paprika
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 6 pieces Pita bread
  • 2 large Tomatoes (sliced)
  • 1 medium Red onion (sliced into rings)
  • 2 cups Iceberg lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 cup Tzatziki sauce

Directions

Step 1

1. Prepare the marinade: In a large bowl, mix minced garlic, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, oregano, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 2

2. Marinate the lamb: Slice the lamb into thin strips and coat thoroughly in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight for maximum flavor.

Step 3

3. Cook the lamb: Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil and cook the marinated lamb in batches for 6-8 minutes until browned and fully cooked.

Step 4

4. Warm the pita bread: Heat the pita bread in a dry skillet or directly over a gas flame for about 1 minute per side until lightly charred and warm.

Step 5

5. Assemble the yiros: Place a spoonful of tzatziki sauce on the center of each pita. Add a portion of cooked lamb, followed by sliced tomatoes, red onion, and shredded lettuce.

Step 6

6. Wrap and serve: Fold the pita around the filling, wrapping it in parchment paper or foil if desired to hold its shape. Serve immediately and enjoy!
