Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set this dry mixture aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is fluffy and light in color, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter and sugar mixture, beating well after each addition.

Step 5

Mix in the vanilla extract until combined.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with the sour cream in two additions, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 7

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden and the tops are set.

Step 9

Remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the cookies cool on the pans for 2-3 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Serve plain or top with your favorite frosting or glaze for added sweetness. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
