Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons Whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons Fresh chives (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Optional: melted butter (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

Step 3

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized chunks remaining.

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix together the sour cream, milk, and chopped chives until combined.

Step 5

Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Gently stir with a wooden spoon or spatula just until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.

Step 6

Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, drop mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. You should get approximately 8 biscuits.

Step 7

Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 13-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Step 8

Optional: Brush the tops of the hot biscuits with melted butter for extra flavor and sheen.

Step 9

Serve the biscuits warm on their own or with butter, honey, or your favorite spread.
