Ingredients

  • 1 slice (about 1/4 inch thick) Spam
  • 1 piece (about 6x6 inches) Puff pastry sheet
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Water
  • 2 tablespoons Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 pinch Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Optional: Chopped green onion

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Take the puff pastry sheet out of the freezer and allow it to thaw for 5-10 minutes until pliable but still cold.

Step 3

In a small bowl, beat the egg with the teaspoon of water to create an egg wash, and set it aside.

Step 4

In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, lightly fry the slice of Spam for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and let it cool slightly on a plate.

Step 5

Lay the puff pastry sheet flat on a clean surface. Place the cooked Spam slice in the center of the pastry.

Step 6

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the Spam slice. If using, sprinkle the chopped green onion and a pinch of black pepper over the cheese.

Step 7

Fold the edges of the puff pastry over the Spam and cheese to create a sealed package. Pinch the edges gently to ensure it stays closed while baking.

Step 8

Brush the entire surface of the puff pastry with the egg wash to give it a golden finish when baked.

Step 9

Transfer the wrapped puff pastry onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and flaky.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm and enjoy your Solo Spam Puff!
