Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 1 unit Large egg
  • 2 tablespoons Melted unsalted butter (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Stir to mix.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, heat the whole milk, unsalted butter, and water over medium heat until warm but not hot (around 110°F). The butter does not need to be fully melted.

Step 3

Pour the warm liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and stir to combine. Add the large egg and mix until smooth.

Step 4

Gradually add the remaining 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup at a time, while stirring or kneading the dough. Once the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl, transfer it to a floured surface.

Step 5

Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, sprinkle a little more flour, but avoid adding too much.

Step 6

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 7

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a smooth ball and arrange them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 8

Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.

Step 9

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 18-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

Step 10

Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted unsalted butter for a soft, glossy finish.

Step 11

Let the rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with butter or your favorite spread!
