Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 0.5 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 0.25 cup Chicken or turkey broth
  • 8 small Soft flour tortillas
  • 2 cups Shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup Diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream
  • 0.25 cup Cilantro leaves, chopped (optional)
  • 1 whole Lime wedges

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Add the chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground turkey to the skillet and cook, breaking it into small pieces with a wooden spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 5–7 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper until the turkey is evenly coated with the spices.

Step 6

Add the tomato paste and stir to combine. Cook for 1–2 minutes.

Step 7

Pour in the chicken or turkey broth and stir. Let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the mixture to slightly thicken.

Step 8

Warm the soft flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable.

Step 9

Assemble the tacos by placing a layer of the turkey mixture onto each tortilla, followed by shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro, if desired.

Step 10

Serve with lime wedges on the side for an extra burst of freshness.
