Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Bananas (ripe but firm)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 3 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Crema Mexicana
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 1 pinch Salt

Directions

Step 1

Peel the bananas and slice them in half lengthwise to create long strips.

Step 2

Brush the cut sides of the bananas lightly with vegetable oil to prevent sticking when grilled. Set aside.

Step 3

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar, heavy cream, and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens slightly (about 3-5 minutes). Remove from heat and set aside to allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly.

Step 4

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together Crema Mexicana, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Step 5

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.

Step 6

Place the bananas cut side down on the grill. Cook for 2-3 minutes until grill marks develop, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until softened and lightly charred.

Step 7

Transfer the grilled bananas to serving plates. Drizzle generously with the caramel sauce and add a dollop of the sweetened Crema Mexicana on the side or on top.

Step 8

Sprinkle the dish with ground cinnamon for additional flavor and garnish as desired (e.g., with fresh mint or crumbled nuts).

Step 9

Serve warm and enjoy!
