Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter (cold)
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cups whole milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 0.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon edible gold dust
  • 4 ounces white chocolate (for wings)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.

Step 3

Cut the cold unsalted butter into small cubes and add to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the whole milk, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Add this wet mixture to the dry mixture and stir just until the dough comes together.

Step 5

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it 2-3 times to bring it together, then roll it out to about 3/4-inch thickness.

Step 6

Use a round cookie cutter (about 2 inches in diameter) to cut out the biscuits. Transfer them to the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.

Step 7

Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.

Step 8

While the biscuits cool, melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Use the melted chocolate to pipe small, wing-shaped designs onto parchment paper. Let the wings set in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

Step 9

In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar with 1 teaspoon of water to create a thick glaze. Stir in the edible gold dust to make the glaze shimmer.

Step 10

Once the biscuits are cooled, brush the tops with the golden glaze using a pastry brush.

Step 11

Carefully attach the white chocolate wings to the sides of the biscuits using a small dab of the leftover glaze as an adhesive.

Step 12

Serve your Snitch Biscuits on a platter and watch them disappear like magic! Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
