Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 8 bacon strips
  • 4 slices sliced cheddar cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices sliced tomato
  • 4 rings sliced red onion

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands or a spoon until evenly combined, being careful not to overmix.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties about 3/4-inch thick. Indent the center of each patty slightly with your thumb to prevent puffing up while cooking.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the bacon strips until crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Transfer the cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels and set aside.

Step 4

Cook the burger patties on the preheated grill or skillet for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place one slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover with a lid or foil to melt the cheese.

Step 5

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a skillet, if desired.

Step 6

Assemble the burgers by spreading 1 tablespoon of barbecue sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf on top, followed by the cooked patties with melted cheese, 2 strips of bacon, a slice of tomato, and a red onion ring. Finish with the top half of the bun.

Step 7

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as fries or a fresh salad.
