Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Pork ribs
  • 1 cup Apple butter
  • 2 teaspoons Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Liquid smoke
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

Step 2

Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs if it hasn’t already been trimmed. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper, kosher salt, and brown sugar to create the dry rub.

Step 4

Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs. Drizzle olive oil over the ribs and gently massage it into the meat.

Step 5

Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours, or until they are tender.

Step 6

While the ribs are baking, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, combine apple butter, apple cider vinegar, liquid smoke, and honey. Stir over medium heat until well blended and slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 7

After the ribs have baked, remove them from the oven and carefully open the foil (be cautious of steam). Brush the ribs generously with the apple butter glaze on both sides.

Step 8

Heat your grill or broiler to medium-high. Place the glazed ribs on the grill or under the broiler and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, brushing with additional glaze and allowing it to caramelize slightly.

Step 9

Remove the ribs from the grill or broiler and let them rest for 5 minutes before cutting into portions. Serve warm with any remaining apple butter glaze on the side.
