Brown the Italian sausage and ground beef in the pot, breaking the meat into small pieces with a wooden spoon. Cook until no longer pink, about 8 minutes. Remove the cooked meat from the pot with a slotted spoon and set aside.
In the same pot, add the chopped onion and diced bell pepper. Sauté for 5-6 minutes, or until softened.
