Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.
Rinse the tomatoes and pat them dry. Rub them generously with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
Place the tomatoes and unpeeled garlic cloves directly on the grill. Cook the tomatoes for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the skins are slightly charred and the tomatoes are softened.
