Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Wash and hull the strawberries, removing the green tops.

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl, mash the strawberries with a potato masher or fork until they're broken into small pieces. You can leave a few chunks for texture if desired.

Step 3

Transfer the mashed strawberries to a medium-sized saucepan.

Step 4

Add the granulated sugar and lemon juice to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.

Step 5

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently.

Step 6

Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer. Continue to cook, stirring often, until the mixture thickens. This should take about 15-20 minutes. To test the thickness, place a small dollop of jam onto a cold plate and let it sit for a minute; if it thickens and holds its shape, it’s ready.

Step 7

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the jam cool for 5-10 minutes.

Step 8

Transfer the jam to a sterilized jar or container. Let it cool completely before sealing with a lid.

Step 9

Store the jam in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
