Ingredients

  • 6 pounds picnic ham (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1.5 cups pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cloves

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the slow cooker by lightly spraying the interior with non-stick cooking spray or lining it with a slow cooker liner.

Step 2

Rinse the picnic ham under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Place the ham in the slow cooker with the cut side facing downward.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar, pineapple juice, Dijon mustard, honey, and ground cloves until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is well combined.

Step 4

Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the ham, ensuring it coats the ham evenly and some of the liquid pools at the bottom of the slow cooker.

Step 5

Cover the slow cooker with the lid and set it to cook on low for 6 hours, or until the ham is tender and the internal temperature near the bone reaches 145°F (63°C).

Step 6

Halfway through the cooking time, baste the ham with the sauce from the slow cooker to keep it moist and flavorful.

Step 7

Once cooked, carefully transfer the ham to a cutting board. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Step 8

Optional: For a glossy glaze, transfer some of the cooking liquid to a saucepan and simmer until it reduces and thickens to desired consistency. Pour over the sliced ham before serving.

Step 9

Serve the ham warm with your favorite side dishes, and enjoy!
