Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Sliced deli ham
  • 0.25 cups Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 8 pieces Sandwich buns
  • 8 pieces Cheese slices (optional, such as Swiss or cheddar)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is well blended and smooth.

Step 2

Place the sliced deli ham into the slow cooker, separating the layers as you add them to ensure even cooking.

Step 3

Pour the prepared sauce mixture evenly over the ham slices in the slow cooker.

Step 4

Add the unsalted butter on top of the ham mixture in small pieces to help it melt evenly as it cooks.

Step 5

Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on low for 3 hours, stirring halfway through the cooking process to ensure the ham is evenly coated with the sauce.

Step 6

About 10 minutes before serving, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and toast the sandwich buns until lightly golden, if desired.

Step 7

Once the ham is tender and heated through, use tongs to layer the ham onto the toasted buns.

Step 8

Top each sandwich with a slice of cheese, if using, and cover with the top bun.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy your hot ham sandwiches!
