  • 15 oz Black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp Cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 piece Bay leaf
  • 0.25 cup Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • 0.5 cup Shredded cheddar cheese (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned and fully cooked. Use a wooden spoon to break the beef into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.

Transfer the cooked ground beef to a 6-quart slow cooker.
