Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup Orange juice
  • 3 quarters Granulated sugar
  • 1 quarter Brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Orange zest
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 0.5 cup Chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse and drain the fresh cranberries, removing any stems or damaged berries.

Step 2

In a slow cooker, combine the cranberries, orange juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, orange zest, and water.

Step 3

Stir the ingredients together until well combined.

Step 4

Cover the slow cooker and set it to low heat. Cook for 2.5 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

As the cranberries cook, they will burst and thicken into a relish-like consistency. If you prefer a smoother texture, use a potato masher to gently mash the mixture after 2 hours of cooking.

Step 6

If using pecans, stir them in during the final 15 minutes of cooking to allow them to toast slightly.

Step 7

Once cooked, transfer the cranberry relish to a serving dish or an airtight container. Allow it to cool to room temperature before serving.

Step 8

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to one week. Serve chilled or at room temperature alongside turkey, ham, or other holiday dishes.
