Ingredients

  • 6 cups Apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 0.25 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 1 cup Rolled oats
  • 0.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar (packed)
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter (cold, diced)
  • 1 scoop per serving Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Spray the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray or lightly grease it with butter to prevent sticking.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice. Stir until the apples are evenly coated.

Step 3

Transfer the apple mixture to the bottom of the prepared slow cooker, spreading it out into an even layer.

Step 4

In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and ground nutmeg.

Step 5

Add the diced cold butter to the oat mixture. Use a pastry cutter, two forks, or your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 6

Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apple mixture in the slow cooker.

Step 7

Cover the slow cooker with the lid and set it to cook on low for 4 hours or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden and crisp.

Step 8

Once done, remove the lid and let the apple crisp cool slightly for 10–15 minutes before serving.

Step 9

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat, if desired.
