Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Pork spareribs
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup Honey
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 0.25 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 2 stalks Green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the pork spareribs by trimming any excess fat and removing the silver membrane on the back of the ribs for better tenderness and flavor.

Step 2

Season both sides of the ribs with paprika, chili powder, salt, and ground black pepper, and set aside.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the sauce.

Step 4

Place the ribs in a slow cooker, cutting them into smaller sections if necessary to fit. Pour the prepared sauce over the ribs, ensuring they are well-coated.

Step 5

Set the slow cooker to low heat and cook the ribs for 6 hours, or until they are tender and easily pull apart with a fork.

Step 6

Once the ribs are done cooking, carefully remove them from the slow cooker and transfer them to a baking sheet lined with foil.

Step 7

Transfer the leftover sauce from the slow cooker to a small saucepan. Over medium heat, bring the sauce to a simmer.

Step 8

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. Add this mixture to the simmering sauce, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to a sticky glaze.

Step 9

Brush the thickened sauce generously over the ribs. For extra caramelization, place the ribs under a broiler on high heat for 3-5 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.

Step 10

Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before garnishing with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.

Step 11

Serve the ribs hot with your favorite sides and enjoy!
