Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground chicken
  • 60 grams Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cloves, minced Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon, grated Ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons, chopped Cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 4 pieces Burger buns
  • 4 tablespoons Chili sauce (such as sweet chili or sambal)
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 150 grams, shredded Cabbage
  • 1 medium, grated Carrot
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon, divided Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken, panko breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, chopped cilantro, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties about 1.5 cm thick. Set aside.

Step 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Once hot, cook the burger patties for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 75°C/165°F).

Step 4

While the patties are cooking, prepare the slaw by combining the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, lime juice, and the remaining 0.5 teaspoon of salt in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.

Step 5

In a small bowl, whisk together the chili sauce and mayonnaise to create the spicy burger sauce.

Step 6

Lightly toast the burger buns in a dry skillet or in the oven.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers: Spread a generous layer of the chili mayo sauce on the bottom half of a toasted bun, place a cooked patty on top, add a handful of slaw, and finish with the top half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately and enjoy your flavorful Singapore Burgers!
