Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, Italian sausage, and diced onion. Cook until the meat is browned and the onion is softened, about 8-10 minutes, breaking up the meat as it cooks.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
