Ingredients

  • 300 grams beef steak (sirloin or flank)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups mixed salad greens
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 medium cucumber, sliced thinly
  • 0.5 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and 2 minced garlic cloves to make a marinade.

Step 2

Place the beef steak in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Let the steak marinate for at least 10 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for more flavor.

Step 3

While the steak marinates, prepare the salad. In a large bowl, combine 4 cups of mixed salad greens, 1 cup of halved cherry tomatoes, 1 medium cucumber (thinly sliced), and 1/2 medium red onion (thinly sliced). Set aside.

Step 4

In another small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of lime juice, 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper to make the dressing.

Step 5

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and swirl to coat the pan.

Step 6

Remove the steak from the marinade and pat it dry with paper towels. Cook the steak in the hot skillet for 3-4 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.

Step 7

Transfer the cooked steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes to retain its juices.

Step 8

Thinly slice the rested steak against the grain into strips.

Step 9

Drizzle the prepared dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat.

Step 10

Top the salad with the sliced steak. Serve immediately while the beef is still warm.
