Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish with a light coating of olive oil or nonstick spray.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Add the marinara sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the shredded mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth.
