Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 250 grams Button mushrooms
  • 2 units Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme leaves
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 100 grams Cream cheese
  • 2 units Puff pastry sheets (store-bought, thawed if frozen)
  • 1 units Egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Chop the button mushrooms finely and add them to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their moisture and it evaporates.

Step 5

Stir in fresh thyme leaves, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes, then remove from heat.

Step 6

Let the mushroom mixture cool slightly, then mix in the cream cheese until fully combined. Set aside.

Step 7

Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares (for a total of 8 squares).

Step 8

Place a spoonful of the mushroom filling in the center of each square.

Step 9

Fold the pastry over the filling to form rolls or rectangles, sealing the edges by pressing them together with a fork.

Step 10

Transfer the rolls to the prepared baking sheet, brush the tops with beaten egg, and sprinkle with sesame seeds (if using).

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
