Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups orange juice
  • 0.5 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 0.25 cups raisins
  • 0.25 cups chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the fresh cranberries thoroughly and set aside.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, orange juice, and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to simmer.

Step 3

Add the cranberries to the saucepan and lower the heat to medium-low.

Step 4

Stir in the apple cider vinegar, grated ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves. Mix well to distribute the spices evenly.

Step 5

Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, for about 10–15 minutes, or until the cranberries burst and the chutney begins to thicken.

Step 6

Add the raisins and cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

If desired, stir in the chopped pecans for added texture and flavor.

Step 8

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the chutney cool to room temperature. The chutney will thicken further as it cools.

Step 9

Transfer the cooled chutney to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 10

Serve the cranberry chutney chilled or at room temperature as a side dish or condiment.
