Prep Time:10 mins

Total Time:25 mins
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 whole apple (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Cook the bacon, stirring occasionally, until crisp, about 5–7 minutes. Remove the cooked bacon and set aside on a plate lined with paper towels. Leave 1 tablespoon of the bacon grease in the skillet, discarding the rest.

Step 3

While the bacon is cooking, core and slice the apples into thin wedges or bite-sized pieces. Leave the skin on for added texture, or peel if preferred.

Step 4

In the same skillet with the reserved bacon grease, add the butter and let it melt over medium heat.

Step 5

Add the sliced apples to the skillet, stirring to coat them in the melted butter and bacon grease.

Step 6

Sprinkle the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, salt, and black pepper evenly over the apples. Stir well to combine.

Step 7

Cook the apples, stirring occasionally, for 5–7 minutes or until they are tender and caramelized but still hold their shape.

Step 8

Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and toss everything together. Cook for an additional 1–2 minutes to warm the bacon.

Step 9

Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or pepper if needed.

Step 10

Transfer the apple and bacon mixture to a serving dish. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired, and serve warm.
