Ingredients

  • 250 grams Fresh spinach
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds
  • 1 stalk Green onion, finely chopped

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.

Step 2

Add the spinach to the pot and blanch for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until the spinach is just wilted.

Step 3

Drain the spinach immediately and transfer it to a bowl of cold water to stop the cooking process.

Step 4

Squeeze out excess water from the spinach gently with your hands, being careful not to mash it.

Step 5

Cut the squeezed spinach into 2-3 inch lengths and place it in a mixing bowl.

Step 6

Add the minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, gochugaru, sesame seeds, and chopped green onion to the bowl with the spinach.

Step 7

Gently toss everything together until the spinach is evenly coated with the seasoning.

Step 8

Taste and adjust seasoning as desired (e.g., adding more soy sauce or gochugaru).

Step 9

Transfer the seasoned spinach to a serving dish and serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 2 days to develop flavors further.
