Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas
  • 1 avocado, ripe
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 tbsp cilantro leaves, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 cup red cabbage, shredded
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 4 extra lime wedges, for serving

Directions

Step 1

Rinse and pat dry the shrimp. Place them in a bowl and toss with olive oil, chili powder, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Let marinate for 10 minutes.

Step 2

While the shrimp marinates, prepare the avocado cream sauce. In a blender or food processor, combine the avocado, sour cream, lime juice, cilantro, and minced garlic. Blend until smooth. Taste and add additional salt or lime juice if desired.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and are fully cooked. Remove from heat.

Step 4

Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable.

Step 5

Assemble the tacos by layering shredded red cabbage on the warmed tortillas, followed by several shrimp. Drizzle with avocado cream sauce and garnish with jalapeño slices if desired.

Step 6

Serve with extra lime wedges on the side for squeezing. Enjoy!
