Ingredients

  • 1 pound raw shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons parsley (chopped)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until the butter has melted and is slightly foamy.

Step 2

Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant.

Step 3

Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

Pour the chicken or vegetable broth into the skillet, scraping the bottom to deglaze and release any browned bits. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.

Step 5

Lower the heat to medium-low and stir in the heavy cream. Let the mixture simmer gently for 3-4 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

Step 6

Gradually whisk in the grated parmesan cheese, stirring continuously to create a smooth, creamy sauce.

Step 7

Add the lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until well combined.

Step 8

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss them gently in the sauce until heated through, about 2 minutes.

Step 9

Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the sauce and give it a final stir.

Step 10

Serve the shrimp sauce hot over pasta, rice, or your choice of side dish. Enjoy!
